Future Stars Ghana was founded because of the lack of educational opportunities for children in Buduburam.

Shadrack, a Ghanaian native, envisoned Future Stars when he was 16 years old. Growing up in abject of poverty, Shadrack struggled to finance his education. In order to pay for high school he was forced to work dangerous construction gigs, when that wasn’t enough, he hustled for money at the local market.

Simultaneously, while working his way through high school he used every spare second to teach children who couldn’t afford to go to school. He called his students Future Stars.

Through pure determination and relentless work he succeeded in graduating high school. After graduation he decided to devote all of his time to teaching impoverished children. With little resources, the same relentless determination, and a lot of hard work he managed to raise enough money to rent a commercial building and an apartment. He then worked tirelessly to transform the commercial building into a primary school and the apartment into a children’s home. Living with the children in the home, he has worked day and night over the last eight years to ensure they have access to water, food, shelter, and education.

Our primary focus as an organization is to ensure the basic necessities of life, psychological health, and education opportunities for the orphans and vulnerable children in district. We believe the next generation is the key to breaking the cycle of poverty in Ghana.
